During the third quarter of 2022, the top five sandbox-like games on the iOS platform in the United States displayed diverse performance trends. Here’s a closer look at their weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.

Roblox maintained a strong presence with weekly revenue peaking at approximately $6.3M in late June, followed by a gradual decline to around $5.2M by the end of September. Weekly downloads saw a notable spike to about 477K in late July, before decreasing to 250K towards the end of the quarter. The game’s weekly active users remained robust, reaching over 11.5M in late July, before experiencing minor fluctuations and ending the quarter with approximately 10.9M active users.

Minecraft exhibited consistent weekly revenue, peaking at around $710K in late July, and then declining to roughly $460K by the end of September. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, with a high of approximately 39K in late July, and a low of around 28K in early September. The game’s weekly active users saw a significant drop from about 8.1M in early July to around 5.5M by the end of September.

IMVU: 3D Avatar Creator & Chat experienced a steady decline in weekly revenue, starting at approximately $391K in late June and ending at around $238K in late September. Weekly downloads also showed a downward trend, peaking at around 45K in mid-July and dropping to about 26K by the end of September. The weekly active users metric was relatively stable, fluctuating between 444K and 486K throughout the quarter.

ZEPETO: Avatar, Connect & Live saw a decrease in weekly revenue from about $62K in late June to roughly $39K by the end of September. Weekly downloads peaked at around 30K in early August, followed by a decline to approximately 15K by the end of the quarter. The game’s weekly active users remained fairly consistent, fluctuating between 125K and 149K throughout the quarter.

Rec Room: Play with Friends experienced a drop in weekly revenue from about $58K in late June to around $33K by the end of September. Weekly downloads saw a peak of approximately 77K in mid-July, followed by a decline to about 47K towards the end of the quarter. The weekly active users metric showed a slight decline from around 241K in late June to approximately 202K by the end of September.
